Rapides Women's and Children's Hospital will host a one-hour "Infant and Pediatric Abduction Prevention Seminar" with safety practices designed specifically for the hospital setting.

The free seminar – taught by representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children – will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, in the Cascade Room of Rapides Women's and Children's Hospital.
Topics include:

  • General recommended hospital infant/pediatric safety practices
  • Profiling of abductors
  • Staff response during potential abduction
  • What to do/not do during an abduction scenario
  • How to handle public participation
  • When to "lock down"

Medical professionals and hospital staff from across Central Louisiana – along with interested members of the community – are encouraged to attend. The course has been approved for one contact hour for nurses.
