Rapides Urgent Care is expanding again in Alexandria. The third Rapides Urgent Care site will be located at 6515 Coliseum Blvd.
“We are very proud of our two existing Rapides Urgent Care clinics,” said Jason Cobb, Rapides Regional Medical Center chief executive officer. “Patients have told us they appreciate the extended hours, quality care and the convenient locations – so we wanted to offer that same type of service to residents on the west side of Alexandria.”
The new location will be open seven days a week from 8:00am to 8:00pm The new location opened on Aug. 14.
“This is not a primary care office, though those requesting a primary care physician or requiring follow-up care will be referred to one of RRMC’s expert practitioners,” Cobb said.
As with previous locations, Rapides Urgent Care specializes in urgent care medical treatment without appointments or long wait times. The site will offer digital X-ray and lab services.
According to healthcare industry experts, approximately 27 percent of emergency room visits could have been taken care of in an urgent care setting. The difference in cost between an urgent care visit and an emergency room visit for the same diagnosis ranges between $225-$500.
Rapides Urgent Care will treat ear and eye infections, fever, minor cuts needing stitches, possible broken bones or simple fractures, severe sore throat, sprains or strains, work-related injuries and vomiting/diarrhea. X-ray and lab services will also be available on site.
