The sign on the corner of Highway 28 East and Cottingham Expressway in Pineville says, “Rapides After Hours Coming Soon.”

The urgent care center – a joint venture between Rapides Regional Medical Center and Premier Health Consultants – will open in late Fall
.
“Rapides After Hours is specifically designed to fill a healthcare void in the Central Louisiana community,” said David Williams, Rapides Regional Medical Center chief executive officer. “This is not a primary care office, though those requesting a primary care physician or requiring follow-up care will be referred to one of RRMC’s expert practitioners. This center truly specializes in after hours, urgent care medical treatment without appointments or long wait times.

“Most importantly, we expect Rapides After Hours to provide relief to our Emergency Department’s minor care volume, which has grown considerably in the last several years.”

The center will be open Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. – providing patients an option for non-emergency care when most doctors’ offices are closed.

“Our research shows that patients want fast, cost-efficient, quality healthcare,” Williams said. “Rapides After Hours will give our patients the convenience they want along with a name they trust.”

Rapides After Hours will treat ear and eye infections, fever, minor cuts needing stitches, possible broken bones or simple fractures, severe sore throat, sprains or strains and vomiting/diarrhea. The center is NOT intended for major emergencies. Patients experiencing a life- or limb-threatening situation should still dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
