The new campus of the HP Long Clinics operated by Rapides Regional Medical Center has opened just steps from the Huey P. Long Medical Center.
The Pineville campus of HP Long, conveniently located at 213 Hospital Boulevard, consists of:
- Urgent Care Clinic
- Medicine Clinic
- Specialty Clinic
- Pharmacy Services
The HP Long Urgent Care Clinic in Pineville is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. The urgent care clinic is a sister operation to the HP Long Urgent Care Clinic on Upper Third Street in Alexandria. Both treat minor injuries and illnesses such as: ear or eye infection; fever; minor cuts that may need stitches; possible broken bones or simple fractures; severe sore throat; sprains and strains; and vomiting/diarrhea. The Urgent Care Clinics are not emergency facilities. In an emergency, always seek medical care immediately and go directly to the nearest emergency facility or call 911.
The HP Long Medicine Clinic offers a more traditional care setting. The Medicine Clinic is also available to allow patients treated at the HP Long Urgent Care Clinic the availability to see a provider for any necessary follow-up appointments. The Medicine Clinic is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Although an appointment is necessary, most patients can be seen within 24 to 36 hours.
The HP Long Specialty Clinic treats patients who need treatment and care for a wide-variety of ailments and illnesses, many of whom previously had to travel out of the area for care. Among the specialties treated are:
- Orthopedic Clinic: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- General Surgery: Wednesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Cardiology Clinic: Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and beginning May 12, each Tuesday, 8 a.m.-Noon.
- Pulmonary Clinic: Beginning May 2, every other Friday from 8 a.m.-Noon.
- Coumadin Clinic: Every Wednesday at the Medicine Clinic
- Gynecology Clinic: Beginning later this month.
The Specialty Clinic is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. by appointment only.
HP Long Pharmacy Services provides medication access through the Cenla Medication Access Program (CMAP). Traditional CMAP prescription programs are available in addition to a pharmacy card program that was developed specifically for HP Long clinic patients. If you are eligible, you can expect to pay no more than $4 for most medications. The pharmacy card is accepted at all major pharmacies in Alexandria and surrounding areas. Pharmacy Services is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome.
The phone number for all clinics is (318) 769-LONG (5664), or 1-855-308-LONG (5664). The HP Long Urgent Care Clinic in Alexandria and the HPLong Pineville campus are both serviced by ATRANs, the city of Alexandria’s bus service.
The HP Long Pineville campus is part of RRMC’s commitment to help provide services that have previously been offered at the Huey P. Long Medical Center, which has served Central Louisiana since 1928. The Huey P. Long Medical Center is projected to close this summer pending approval by the Louisiana Legislature as the state transitions from a state-run charity hospital system to a health system run by private entities.
