Barbara Griffin Named New Chief Nursing Officer
Barbara Griffin, MSN, RN, NE-BC, has been named Chief Nursing Officer at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
She replaces Diane Fulton, who left to be CNO at a facility in Kansas City.
Griffin came to Rapides Regional Medical Center in 2013 as Director of Critical Care and Telemetry Services before being promoted to Assistant Chief Nursing Officer in 2015. Under her leadership, five of RRMC’s six Medical/Surgical nursing units were honored by HCA as Units of Distinction, the most of any facility in HCA.
“Barbara has more than 30 years of clinical and administrative experience in healthcare,” said Jason Cobb, Chief Executive Officer at Rapides Regional Medical Center. “She began her career as an LPN and continued her education, culminating with a master’s degree in 2012. Barbara joined us here at RRMC in 2013 as Director of Critical Care and Telemetry Services and most recently took on the role of Interim CNO. In that role, Barbara and her team have achieved many accomplishments, including improved patient satisfaction scores, a successful Joint Commission Survey and company-wide recognition among HCA’s Units of Distinction.”
A native of Grant Parish, Griffin is a graduate of Alexandria Vocational School, LSU of Alexandria and Northwestern State, and received her Master of Science in Nursing from Our Lady of the Lake College School of Nursing in Baton Rouge. She has previously worked at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge and Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
Griffin is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Medical Surgical Nursing, Louisiana State Nurses Association and American Organization of Nurse Executives.
