The father-daughter duo of Dan Ahrens and Grace Ahrens took the top two spots Friday night in the first Rapides Cancer Center Light Up the Night 5K run to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Around 150 runners and walkers took part in the event that leads up to this Friday night’s Central Louisiana Relay for Life at Holy Savior Menard High School.
Dan Ahrens won the overall race, covering the 3.1-mile course that began at the Rapides Cancer Center and finished by the Gamburg Downtown YMCA in 19:48. His 13-year-old daughter, Grace, who won the female division of the Red River Run 10K in Alexandria less than a month ago, finished second overall in 20:16.
Monty Smith and Jack Adair rounded out the top three male finishers, while Yanci Johnson and Jacque Murphy rounded out the top three female finishers.
