Visiting Hours

Families and other partners in care are welcome 24 hours a day at Rapides Regional Medical Center, according to the patient’s wishes. However, there are specific visiting hours in certain departments:

Medical ICU and Surgical ICU: Visitation occurs for 20 minutes beginning at 10 a.m., 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. There is an additional 6 a.m. visitation time in the Medical ICU. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed in the ICU. A family representative will be issued a passcode at admission. Special visitation may be arranged by contacting the nurses' station through the intercom located in the ICU waiting room.

Quiet Time throughout our campus is from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please assist us in observing this important time for our patients.

Safety & Security

The doors of Rapides Regional Medical Center are locked at 9 p.m. and are opened at 6 a.m. After-hours visitors may enter through the Emergency Department entrance or through the after-hours Labor and Delivery entrance at Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Security personnel are available to escort visitors after-hours to their vehicles. To request an escort, please call Security, ext. 5063, or call the operator at “0.” Please allow 5-10 minutes for their arrival.

Families and other partners in care are welcome 24 hours a day at Rapides Regional Medical Center, according to the patient’s wishes. However, there are specific visiting hours in certain departments:

Labor and Delivery: Up to three support persons may remain in the room with the patient as long as it does not interfere with patient care. Visitors should be 14 or older. Siblings of anticipated newborns younger than 14 may visit for brief periods.

OB/GYN: After 9 p.m. only two support persons may remain with the patient.

Pediatrics: After 9 p.m., two support persons, 18 or older, may remain with the patient.

Pediatric ICU: Parents are typically allowed at bedside around the clock. Additional loved ones are allowed a 30 minute visit at 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Visitors must be 12 or older.

Newborn ICU: Visitation is limited to Mom, the second bandholder and support persons listed by the family. Only two people per infant, per visitation. Times are: 8 a.m. to Noon, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., 8 p.m. to Midnight and 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Safety & Security

For the safety of our patients, Rapides Women’s and Children's Hospital asks that all visitors check in with the security officer located at the information desk in the Atrium lobby. You will be asked to present a valid photo ID, have your photo taken and provide the room number you will be visiting. You may access the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor patient rooms by using the RWCH elevators. During your visit, you will be asked to wear a visitor ID tag and to check out with the security officer when your visit is over.

Parking and Valet Services

Patients and visitors may park free in the Rapides Regional parking garages located at the east and west ends of our campus.

Free valet parking is available Monday through Friday at the Scott Street entrance of Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Additional free parking is available on the lot located at Fifth and Elliot streets, east of Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Parking lots are also located on Sixth Street and at the corner of Elliott and Eighth streets.

Flower Deliveries

If you would like to send flowers to a patient at Rapides Regional Medical Center or Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital, you can contact Mary Ann’s Florist, located on the hospital campus, by calling (318) 449-9035. Other florist shops in the area routinely deliver to the hospital as well. Flower deliveries are not allowed in the intensive care unit patient areas.

Cafeteria and Dining Options

The Courtyard Cafeteria is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It offers hot entrees, soups, sub and salad stations, specialty sandwiches, desserts and grab-and-go items.

McDonalds is located in the first floor cafeteria area, is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Soup n Such is located in the Atrium of Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital. It offers breakfast items such as yogurt, cereal, pancakes and pastries from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch options such as soup, salad and sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
