The Cancer Support Group at Rapides Regional Medical Center will hold its monthly meeting at Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital’s Cascade Room on Monday, Sept. 19.
This month’s guest speaker will be Nell Deville, executive director of the Cenla Area Agency on Aging, Inc. Deville will highlight the free services provided to seniors and adults with disabilities. They offer a one-stop-shop to help seniors navigate the many public and private programs available – and assists them in applying for those services.
In addition, Deville will offer information on SHIIP - the Senior Health Insurance Information Program - which provides counseling on health insurance issues such as plan comparisons, supplemental insurance, claims assistance, appeals processes and long-term care options. Since Medicare Open Enrollment begins on Oct. 15, this is the prime time to begin looking at insurance benefits and options.
The meeting begins at noon. A light lunch will be served, so pre-registration is required by calling 769-7200 or 769-7258.
