Peek-A-Boo 3D/4D Ultrasound now available in Central Louisiana
September 26, 2011
Who does your baby look like? It’s hard to say, but at Central Louisiana Women’s Clinic, you can get a good look at your baby before he or she even arrives using Peek-a-Boo 3D/4D Ultrasound.
“This is a relatively new sonogram where they do four dimensional rather than just the three dimensional,” said David Spence, M.D., with Central Louisiana Women’s Clinic. “The good thing about the four-dimensional ultrasound is that it gives us better resolution. We can get better images of the baby.
“There’s a lot of things they can pick up now with the four-dimensional that they couldn’t pickup with the conventional ultrasound.”
All Peek-a-Boo sessions allow expectant parents to invite up to four guests to get a sneak peek of the baby.
If you schedule a Peek-a-Boo sessions prior to 24 weeks gestation, there’s a lot of movement from the baby, who still has lots of room to grow – which makes for a fun video. After 24 weeks, babies are more developed, which makes for great photos of the baby’s face – so you can really start to tell who the baby will look like.
“Usually, it’s better to schedule before 24 weeks when there is plenty of room for the baby to move around and the parents can see the baby a little bit better,” Spence said.
Women who are at least 28 weeks pregnant can also find out if they’re having a boy – or a girl- with up to 99 percent accuracy.
Peek-a-Boo packages range from one 20 minute session with two take-home color photos and CD – to a package which includes two, 30-minute ultrasound sessions, color photos, photo CD and video.
“We’ve picked up a lot of interesting cases that we may not have picked up before because the resolution with the 3D/4D ultrasound is so good,” Spence said. “And so far, patients love it.”
